The Advertising Club of Edmonton’s held its annual awards ceremony April 30th. We were recognized for our verve 2011 Calendar for HOPE in two categories. We were recognized in self-promotion and received a distinction among the other entries. And we now have the acclaimed ACE award in the category of Illustration Computer.
We are very proud that our hard work for this rewarding project is getting noticed and are even more excited about the upcoming 2012 calendar.
We would like to thank all our sponsors who make the calendar possible every year. A special thanks to McCallum Printing Group Inc. for their hard work printing this calendar!
They’re finally ready! verve 2011 is the 6th anniversary of the calendar for hope and it’s a gooder!
Since the first calendar, vrse has been committed to making the calendar for hope an annual fundraiser in memory of my little brother Christopher. Chris passed away at the young age of nine waiting for a liver transplant. And so in our effort to keep his memory alive as well as raise awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation, we produce and sell an art-filled calendar with 100% of the proceeds donated to the University of Alberta’s Human Organ Procurement and Exchange (HOPE) Program.
Donate to help us raise awareness and get an awesome calendar (or ten). They make fabulous christmas gifts for family, friends and coworkers!
visit the calendar for hope website to donate today and receive your calendars.

We are happy to welcome LitFest Edmonton’s Nonfiction Festival to our client list.
LitFest is a literary festival in Edmonton that celebrates nonfiction content, notable authors and avid readers. It is the only nonfiction festival in North America. It is an exclusive event where people can come together to discuss real issues and how our world connects through travel, food and wine, life stories, nature and politics.
LitFest came to us looking for a new look, a new website design and some new inspiration and we are thrilled to provide that for them.
LitFest has some big speakers lined up for this year’s festival (hint: Dr. David Suzuki). Be sure to get your tickets from Tix on the Square! LitFest takes place October 20 – 24, 2010
Kaleido is well under way and will be debuting it’s 5 year anniversary lineup September 10–12, 2010. They are proud to be celebrating 5 years of igniting art in the community! Be sure to check out their site as September nears for all the juicy details.
A little after effects project we compiled for appboy. For use as a simple logo animation to appyboy video blogs. (logo & robot designed by lift interactive) we were just in charge of making stuff move. ;)
Our friends at ThinkTank Advertising and Design asked us if we could lend a design hand and we were happy to provide the Edmonton Food Bank with some pro bono billboard & ad layouts this week. Photography generously provided by Bruce Clark at moments in digital
Go do some good people! When you’re out cruising around this week or on your weekend, drop off some non-perishables to the food bank.
We are excited to be working with SNAP. (The society of northern alberta print-artists). SNAP‘s mandate is to promote, facilitate and communicate printmaking as an art form. They offer a conducive working environment to local artists, education programs to aspiring print-artists and strive to stimulate an exchange of ideas and information about printmaking. As a print production and exhibition centre, SNAP is unique in Alberta, and exceptional in Canada.
SNAP is in the midst a lot of exciting changes… they are currently renovating a new space and getting ready for a big move. We are thrilled to be thrown into the mix of it all and are in the process of creating their new visual identity along with all kinds of fun collateral.
SNAP has also brought us on board to design & develop a brand-spanking new website for them. One that will look great, work even better and showcase SNAP in the world the of printmaking. (We will be working with our super-smart developer friends over at Lift Interactive for the actual ‘developing’ part).
Thank you for your support. If you donated your time, money, or talent for this calendar fundraiser… we just wanted to let you know that we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts!
Ignite 2010 was our 5th anniversary of the Calendar for Hope in loving memory of my little brother Chris. We really can’t thank everyone enough for supporting this calendar over the past 5 years… we have several guest illustrators and sponsors who have been with us since day one and a ton of awesome fans who’ve purchase the calendar EVERY year. We can’t do more than say THANKYOU! and we thought a little video is the perfect way to do it.
Enjoy. Sign your donor card, and get ready for Relish 2011 it’s going to be awesome.
We are pleased to announce the 4th Giants of Edmonton mural designed by vrse!
Giants is a public art program operated by Capital City Clean Up’s Graffiti Management Program which promotes murals as a deterrent to graffiti vandalism. The City selects the themes for Giants murals with the help of 630 CHED listeners.
vrse was happy to be selected to design the 4th mural; a tribute to the city’s wonderful volunteers. We wanted to keep it vibrant and bright and simple and just really shout out to all the volunteers that – we know what you do out there and we thank you for it!
Be sure to head over to Old towne Beverley and check out our mural! It is the fourth mural commissioned by the Graffiti Management Program since it started Giants in 2008. It is located on the corner of 48 Street and 118 Avenue.
This summer has been filled with art, festivals and fun :) vrse has been busy appearing at festivals throughout the city, selling art and promoting our company.
vrse appeared at Whyte Avenue’s ARTWALK, selling out of many prints and selling a few originals. (It was hard to let them go, but they all went to wonderful, loving homes). We sat outside in the beautiful weather for 3 days, showing off our stuff and spending half the money we made at other artist’s tables. The office walls are filling up fast!
We also took part in EASTWOODFEST – a community art festival on 118 Avenue. Coming up in September, vrse will appear at KALEIDO Family Arts Festival on 118 Avenue, between 92 – 94 Street.
vrse will be selling art as well as have a few special pieces on display in the gallery. go to artsontheave.org for the festival program.
We are excited to be working with jardins gardens on several marketing pieces as well as the design and development of a website for their tiny green footprint gardening company.
jardins gardens builds raised garden beds and give their clients the means to start growing their own food. They build all their garden beds with FSC Certified lumber, and fill them with fertile growing medium. They follow up with seasonal growing tips and delicious recipes.
vrse is excited and honoured to be included as the design studio in the start of this growing company… no pun intended.
Another successful year at Whyte Avenue ARTWALK. This is a great art festival, showcasing over 200 local edmonton artists. If you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to mark it on your calendars for next year.
vrse was there selling originals, prints and handing out business cards like candy. Thanks to all of our clients and friends who came by to buy and say hi!
